Role Overview

This Enterprise Monitoring Engineer is responsible for delivering and supporting large-scale network, system, application, service, and business activity monitoring and alerting solutions. This position involves the deployment and support of the tools the company uses to monitor their network, systems and applications. This Individual will work with members of other teams to gather monitoring and alerting requirements from stakeholders and deliver solutions utilizing the enterprise monitoring toolset.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with teams to build, redesign, and implement a more progressive monitoring strategy that meets the evolving requirements in IT as we shift towards more modernized architectures, processes, and technologies
  • Create and drive strategy and standardization of monitoring across the enterprise. Ensure we collect the right metrics at the right frequency and the data is readily available for alerting, reporting, and analysis
  • Work with teams to put monitoring solutions of critical systems and network infrastructure into place to ensure high availability and reduce impact of issues.
  • Create and maintain dashboards pulling together monitoring across multiple teams within the same tool as well as across multiple tools
  • Create and maintain reports showing volume/type/performance of teams relating to monitoring
  • Good written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate among technical and non-technical employees
  • A customer driven approach and good customer management skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, work well under pressure, and be highly organized
  • Ability to identify problems and apply creative solutions
  • Stay abreast of the latest monitoring technology and trends
  • Management of false positives and negatives
  • Configuration, release, and change management

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience in IT Enterprise Monitoring
  • Experience with ServiceNow, New Relic, and SolarWinds
  • 2+ years with event management including process creation and maintenance and tool configuration
  • Strong technical background including experience in JSON, Rest API, and Powershell
  • An understanding of fundamental technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP, and DNS
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel
  • Proven project coordination skills and experience in planning, development, and implementation of projects with multiple objectives
