The Default Claims Manager will oversee the processing of required claims to FNMA and HUD along with other investors to recover advances incurred throughout the default process. The Claims Manager will be required to oversee the filing of claims, have the ability to file multiple investor claims types; meet investor time frames, and complete audits of claims processes for validation. He/She will be responsible for the tracking of claim payments and filing of any required supplemental claims as necessary along with respond accordingly to any contested claim information as required. The Claims Manager must have the ability to analyze, apply, and retain the knowledge required to file claims with the required accuracy levels along with  the application of all HUD and investor guidelines. The Claims Manager must be able to review, prepare, and apply all required policies and procedures associated with the job. He/She must also exhibit the ability to train and develop his or her staff to reach the desired goals of the department


  • Review, analyze, and ensure timely settlement of investor and mortgage insurance claims and manage aging claims to determine status and bring to closure
  • Document and maintain all systems necessary for proper claim handling and follow-up
  • Research issues and obtain proper supporting documentation in a timely manner as requested by investor or mortgage insurance company
  • Manage application of all claim funds received and provide additional information as necessary in order to validate all available funds received prior to claim being closed
  • Monitor claim process reports to ensure all required responses are timely filed
  • Complete timely audits of all assigned claims to ensure all requirements have been met, and claim process can be validated


  • Graduation from a 4-year college or university with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of the position is preferred. Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience & education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • 4. At least 2 years of Managerial Experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word – computer skills should be above basic level
  • Previous work with mortgage claim filing a plus
