Mortgage servicing and origination licensing is essential to Mr. Cooper functions. This position assists the Licensing Compliance AVP in the development and management of the regulatory licensing compliance management program and the Licensing Compliance Department for Mr. Cooper and certain subsidiaries. The Licensing Compliance Department is responsible for ensuring that the company’s licenses are maintained with all applicable regulatory agencies, coordinates with company departments to obtain the information needed to execute the plan, manages the licenses and regulatory relationships, and regularly communicates the status of this plan to key stakeholders, which includes senior leadership. The Licensing Specialist will be required to perform regular licensing activities on an ongoing basis to support the Licensing team’s responsibilities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Submit license applications and renewals timely as required.
  • Handle routine matters with State regulators, escalating to senior or management for escalated matters. 
  • Keep Compliance Licensing standards, procedures, and reference documents up to date at management’s direction.
  • Assist with researching and drafting various state matrices with respect to licensing requirements
  • Interact regularly with top company executives and state regulators.
  • Prepare status updates for executive management on pending applications and licensing reporting requirements.
  • Update the Archer Licensing Database.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all Company, Affiliate and personal employee information as needed.
  • Conduct FHA Branch Audits for Mr. Cooper
  • Other Licensing duties and special projects as assigned by Management.

Core Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years related mortgage and/or real estate licensing or related industry experience.
  • Experience with real estate broker, auction, and/or appraisal licenses a plus.
  • Proficiency in compliance management software, SharePoint, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of licensing regimes and laws, such as those related to SAFE Act, or related industry experience.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with federal and state licensing platforms such as NMLS, Sircon and NAIC.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability retain a large information building on one’s own knowledge base and ability to work quickly and independently, and have meticulous attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Possess an understanding of MLO licensing requirements on a 50-state and U.S. territory basis.
  • Possess an understanding of mortgage lending, servicing and debt collection licensing requirements on a 50-state and U.S. territory basis.
  • Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully; steadfastly pushes self and others for results.
  • Will be required to assist in the management of hundreds of licenses, registrations and reports, and to arrange information and files in a useful manner. 
  • Must have a mature level of professionalism and organizational skills.
