Under the direction of senior management, the Contract Recovery Manager will lead a team of specialists focused on the recovery of funds from prior servicers and transferring servicers. Manages a team with a focus on policy and strategy implementation and control or responsible for supervising team efforts to achieve operational/tactical goals; coordinates day to day transactions and projects. Direct Report to VP or AVP. Typically manages Manager/Professional and/or below Manager/Associate level resources; Subordinates perform the same essential work and activities. Responsible for short term project planning or operational goals.


  • Review all existing and future contracts for Servicing and identify all opportunities and requirements to assign losses back to third party.
  • Build and implement process for servicing organization to report and track all potential recoveries.
  • Draft and track all correspondence necessary to request recovery items.
  • Respond to calls or correspondence from attorneys, third party vendors, government agencies and other Servicers.
  • Prepare summary statements and presentations to senior management related to large-dollar outages or persistent issues.
  • Work with in-house counsel when appropriate to determine escalation path for unresolved items.
  • Support Repurchase group within Acquisitions to resolve Servicer discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly management reports detailing the roll-forward and chance of recovery of each loss recovery item, reports to be reviewed by the EVP, Servicing.
  • Document process gaps that are resulting in opportunities for losses
  • Provide tracking reports to management to show status of outstanding recovery efforts.
  • Ensure that proper departmental controls are in place and adhered to as required by various regulatory requirements.
  • Document procedures in detailed and summary form for internal and external audiences.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire staff for the Contract Recovery team.
  • Responsible for training, development, and performance evaluation of all staff members on the team.


  • Bachelor's degree and typically 7+ years of work-related experience. Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience & education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential function of this job. High school diploma or state approved equivalency required.
  • 2+ years of recent, residential, mortgage servicing experience as a team manager/supervisor preferred.
