Job Description:

The Senior VMware Engineer will lead day-to-day design, implementation and operational support of the server environment including new system delivery, change requests, proactive availability, performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, automation, proof of concepts, implementation of new technologies, troubleshooting and resolving system issues. The ideal candidate will have engineering experience with both Windows-based systems, virtual servers, and cloud environments. Candidates must have strong communication skills, leadership skills and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.


  • Subject matter expertise in VMware virtualization, coding/scripting, cloud, and automation technologies.
  • Very strong knowledge required for SCCM, Patching Operations, Active Directory, Windows Security, Window Server Troubleshooting, PKI Management, KMS knowledge, DNS, Nutanix and UCS.
  • Create elegant and powerful ways to automate complex problems that can evolve in the enterprise as the business grows
  • Design, manage and maintain VMware 5.5 / 6 environments using existing tools such as SRM and VRA
  • Provide process and procedures for supporting the Windows, virtualization and cloud environments including new system delivery, deployments, change requests, proactive availability, performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and resolution of system issues
  • Design and manage UCS/Dell Servers, NOS, Security and system patches on all Windows, virtual and cloud environments
  • Be an escalation resource for maintaining and ensuring the ticket queue is being properly addressed promptly
  • Provide escalation technical support and issue resolution for Windows, virtual and cloud environments
  • Design and Ensure the team is following best practice for software packages and modifications via SCCM, login scripts, and GPO
  • Act as the Point of Contact representing the Wintel/Virtualization/Cloud Team in design, planning and implementation meetings
  • Produce and maintain procedural documentation throughout the lifecycle of the system
  • Drive product assessments and POC initiatives
  • Actively participate in Change Management and Problem Management calls and take ownership for resolution of issues
  • Train offshore teams on operations’ support procedures, evaluate their performance and take corrective actions
  • Participate in and be the escalation engineer for on-call support rotation
  • Must be able to take on leadership responsibilities
  • Clear and precise communication with management and upper management on issues, solutions and new technologies
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by Management
  • Travel as required.

  • Proficient in Automation technologies


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent work experience required
  • 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise level applications and their infrastructure.
  • 7+ years coding/scripting in Ruby, Python or Perl preferred.
  • OR at least three years coding/scripting using .Net and PowerShell
  • OR At least two years Cloud experience in Azure, AWS or GCE Skillsets
