The Senior Contract Recovery Specialist is responsible for validating the claim amount, evaluating any discrepancies between advances made, claims filed and amounts received, and determining the root cause for all losses by Department & Activity.  Responsibilities also include reviewing contracts, identifying all potential bill-back items and recovering or minimizing losses associated with Servicing activities including Claims and Repurchase. This position will focus primarily on legal claims.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform loss analysis for the Claims Department to determine why advances were not recovered on home mortgage foreclosures, DILs, and Short Sales.
  • Perform analysis of all LSAMS transactions relating to advances and expenses on zero UPB loans and reconcile to all Claim funds and Third Party funds received.
  • Experienced in all claim types within the Loss Recovery department.
  • Specialist makes c/o decision based on recoverability.  If recoverable from 3rd party, pursue claim.  If not, added to c/o list.
  • Review and work closely with business units to gather necessary information and documentation in order to file a claim on errors caused by a prior servicer or vendor.
  • Preliminary review of incoming submissions from internal business units in a SharePoint environment.
  • Create formal write up for each claim submission.  Will include explanation and timeline of events, contractual breach, and summarize Nationstar's position regarding loss and responsibility.
  • Review and research offshore team inquiries related to information provided or documentation required to support a claim.
  • Prepares summary statements and presentations to senior management related to large-dollar or persistent issues.
  • Daily utilization of excel and access database to track and reconcile recovery efforts and create adhoc reporting as needed.
  • Monitor offshore agent productivity reports.
  • Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of others. Understands the business and uses information to make cost-effective decisions
  • Conduct meetings with counter-parties and lines of business as needed.
  • Ability to recognize and escalate issues and/or work through claims that are at an impasse.
  • Conduct weekly quality control reviews for offshore team.
  • Analyze monthly offshore report to identify issues and / or errors.
  • Conduct continuous training sessions with offshore personnel targeting trouble areas.
  • Solid understanding of contract and PSA language and interpretation.
  • Provides training and quality control support to team members.
  • Special high visibility projects as necessary.
  • Contract review/interpretation, drafting letters or responses to counter-parties will be majority of position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Graduation from a 4-year college or university with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of the position is preferred. Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience & education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Good written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of LPS, LSAMS (AS400), Remedy, AMN, Vendorscape and QCIM.
  • Ability to communicate among technical and non-technical employees, and process orientation skills.
  • A customer driven approach and solid customer management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task, be highly organized, and work independently
  • Ability to identify problems and apply creative solutions
  • Ability to be a point of contact and guide team members
  • Ability to work with no supervision.
  • Foreclosure Title and Litigation experience a plus.
  • Must possess a solid understanding of the overall mortgage servicing process.
  • J.D. degree or para-legal certificate preferred, admittance to practice not required.
  • Knowledgeable of Contract Law.
  • Familiar with litigation guidelines on a state by state basis.
  • 5 years of mortgage servicing, origination or the financial industry experience preferred.
