JOB SUMMARYThe Storage Engineer III is primarily responsible for providing consultation and expert technical advice on IT infrastructure pertaining to storage. This will include providing the technical expertise in translating project requirements into specific storage needs for the best possible solution. The ideal candidate will have engineering experience with EMC VMAX, ISILON, XtremIO, and Compellent Storage arrays. Candidates must have strong communication skills, and the desire to work in a fast paced environment. The Storage Engineer III will also be required to provide daily support within the typical IT storage infrastructure to include change control, project management, upgrades, and implementations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Serve as technical expert for project teams throughout the implementation of the project Translate business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable designs for complex or high impact infrastructure systems. Engage with the customer to accurately gather and analyze project specific requirements. Competently design and implement recommended best practice solutions for the specific environment Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the area of self-service / automation / orchestration to include VIPR and VRA environments. Demonstrate technology mastery and ownership to ensure reliable, highly available, and highly performing solutions. Able to provide TCO and ROI for the recommended storage solutions Work within a high performance team showing the ability to implement large scale solutions from end-to-end Able to provide support of the storage infrastructure as part of a team on-call rotation. Responsible to enhance and document engineering processes and support procedures for the Infrastructure Storage Team. Engineer, support and maintenance of company’s storage infrastructure Provide level 3 support of the storage infrastructure Maintain and manage updates and patches for storage and fabric systems. Produce and maintain procedural documentation throughout the lifecycle of the system Assist team members on projects Participate in product assessments and POC initiatives Participate in Change Management and Problem Management calls. Train offshore teams on operations’ support procedures, evaluate their performance and take corrective actions. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 5 years of storage administration experience Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with major course work in a discipline related to the requirements of the position is preferred; Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience & education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this job Working Experience or certifications with EMC VMAX and EMC ISILON (must have) VIPR or Dell Compellent (preferred) self-service / automation / orchestration Working knowledge of storage within both the virtualization and physical realms. Working knowledge of Rest API calls to storage arrays and knowledge within storage automation is a plus.
