This job requires daily interaction with a broad range of Nationstar Mortgage employees including executive officers in Servicing, providing legal advice, counseling and solutions on issues ranging from loan level to systemic issues. Must be able to build and maintain working relationships with servicing management, Compliance, Internal Audit and other control group partners. Also, must be able to assume responsibility for special projects as assigned.


  • Provides expert legal advice and practical and timely solutions to a wide range of issues regarding residential mortgage transactions, including performing and default servicing. Expertise in reverse mortgage servicing would also be helpful.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills, including the ability to influence others, foster teamwork and drive for results and change within a large and complex organization.
  • Analyzes complex legal issues, develops creative solutions and provides sound, practical and reasoned legal advice to business clients.

What level of education or specialized training is required to perform the job?

JD degree from an ABA accredited law school.

List any special certifications, licenses, and/or knowledge requirements for this job:

Must be a member in good standing of the Texas Bar Association or licensed to practice in any other state or the District of Columbia.

How many years of directly related job experience are required to be qualified to enter the job?

Minimum of ten (10) years of full-time legal practice with substantial experience in regulatory compliance, focused on residential mortgage issues.  In-house experience preferred.  Extensive experience in providing legal advice regarding RESPA, TILA, and CFPB Rules in general is required, Knowledge of GSE and FHA guidelines is also preferred.
