Describe the essential functions for which the Job is accountable.  Essential Functions are those which are specific and unique to this position and when removed changes the nature of the job itself. 

•         Oversight of the underwriting managers and staff.

•         Monitor underwriting turn times and staffing levels

  •  Coordinate all staffing considerations including scheduling, staffing levels and compensation

•         Determine authority levels for underwriters

•         Develop and implement underwriting procedures

•         Coordinate with credit risk on clarifications or guideline changes

•         Responsible for preparing performance reviews for underwriting management

•         Monitor QA and QC findings to identify underwriting trends and enact appropriate changes

•         Participate in Human Resource issues, i.e., timely submission of performance reviews to comply

       with corporate policy.

What level of education or specialized training is required to perform the job?

  • Candidate must have 7 years underwriting experience, 1-4 family conventional mortgages, 1st and

2nd mortgages, a thorough knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA lending including 3 years of managing underwriters or leading teams

  • Some secondary marketing experience is preferred
  • Candidate should possess current knowledge of federal, state and local compliance regulations
  • B.A./B.S. degree required
